Smart Minds is an award winning graphic design and marketing firm located in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado, comprised of husband and wife team, Paul and Kyle (Eustice) Lukes. In combining their passions for their craft and music, Smart Minds has carved out a niche within the music industry, working with talented musicians and artists of all types.
Kyle has always had an intense love of music and the written word. Starting with meeting LL Cool J and The Beastie Boys in her teenage years, her curiosity for what goes on behind the scenes quickly grew. A journalistic career was calling her and she went on to start her freelance writing career shortly after leaving college. Since then, she has gone on to work for a variety of publications and websites including HipHopDX, The Source, Wax Poetics, Thrasher Skateboarding Magazine, Ghettoblaster, Albuquerque's IQ Magazine, London's Bonafide Magazine, Kansas City Pitch, Little Village Magazine, Fort Collins Coloradoan, and the Chuck D-owned Rap Station & Hip-Hop Gods.com. With experience in PR, booking, writing of artist biographies and everything in between, Kyle is poised for a long-lasting career. She currently contributes as a writer/editor for HipHopDX while maintains her duties at Smart Minds.
Paul designed his first logo at the age of 15 for the Civil Air Patrol in his home town of Taos, New Mexico. He has been drawing and working with typography since he was first able to hold a pencil. Paul Started college at Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna Beach, CA and halfway through transferred to California College of the Arts in pursuit of more challenging critiques. Paul graduated from CCA with a BFA with graphic design emphasis in 2008. Since then Paul has won an numerous awards for his typography and design work, including awards given by AIGA, the professional association for design as well as the Great Plains Journalism Awards. His love of and passion for music has driven him to work for clients who are also musicians he's been inspired by. He's designed albums for artists like Del the Funky Homosapien, Lyrics Born, and The Gift of Gab (of Blackalicious).
